EcoMint is a company with a mission to harness the innovative potential of blockchain to empower ordinary people to take action to tackle climate change.
To do this we have created the first mass market environmental investment asset that stores value as natural ecosystems are nurtured and regenerated, rather than exploited and destroyed. We call these tokens the “Angry Teenager Forest Tokens.”
85% of degraded land in the world is owned by smallholders who often can’t get investment to regenerate their patch of land - the economics just don’t work on small scale. The Angry Teenagers are changing that.
This White Paper lays out how.
🌱 Introduction 🌱
Humanity is at a crisis point. We need to change the direction of travel on climate change, right now. We all know this. How do we as individuals make that change happen?
Angry Teenager Forest Tokens are a way for everyone to nurture the planet and earn a return from funding vital work in grassroots ecosystem regeneration.
Angry Teenager Forest Tokens allow you to:
- Fund the regeneration of a specific piece of land by the local community, with expert social & environmental support
- Watch that ecosystem flourish in real time; and understand how and by whom it is being restored
- Track your impact in driving carbon capture
Angry Teenager are shaking up the current system because:
- We are enabling tiny projects to get funding to design and implement “the right work” for their local ecosystems. This will eventually be applicable to any patch of degraded land, anywhere.
- We use cutting-edge Web3 technology to allow individuals to fund a specific piece of land and the people regenerating that land, and track their impact with transparent data.
- Angry Teenager owners and the communities nurturing the land are rewarded with ongoing revenue from the carbon offsets that they generate. These carbon offsets can be easily traced back to the work that generated them, and can demonstrate the holistic picture behind each ton captured.
- We don’t go in for “green blocking” - buying up land in the third world. Ownership of the land stays with the communities doing the regeneration work.
- Owners of Angry Teenager Forest Tokens earn carbon offsets and can use these to offset their carbon footprint.
That’s the overview. Next let’s look at each part of the system in detail.
